The Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) has the largest dedicated concentration of socio-cultural researchers in Australia. The Institute’s engaged research is committed to making a positive difference in the world. It is engaged ethically and reciprocally with others. It aims to carry out innovative interdisciplinary research into continuities and transformations in culture and society in a way that contributes to understanding and shaping contemporary local and global life.
The Institute is a dedicated qualitative research facility, with strong capability in urban, geospatial and social media statistical methods. This expertise can help to supplement findings developed through workshops, interviews, policy analysis and desk research by analysing, correlating and summarising key trends and data sources.
The Institute has extensive experience of working practically and collaboratively with communities, cities, organisations and different levels of government in negotiating the challenges posed by social and cultural diversity in the face of rapidly changing global contexts.
